Somali Refugee Students In Canadian Schools: Postmigration Experiences

This paper reports on the postmigration experiences of a group Somali refugee students attending public schools in southwestern city Ontario, Canada. The findings were drawn from qualitative study conducted to investigate participants’ experiences. Data collected through semi-structured, one-on-one interviews with six participants. Study participants faced many learning difficulties and socio-cultural challenges. show strengths related resiliency perseverance. Educators, administrators, peer students, members school community could play central role supporting after resettlement. proposes strategies approaches support educators their work background other cultural backgrounds.
